Handling heavy precast wall panels requires more than just lifting capacity. It also requires the correct lifting attachment to ensure the load remains secure, balanced, and easy to manoeuvre throughout the lifting operation.
At One Machine Engineering Sdn Bhd, we recently completed the fabrication of a custom forklift wall panel lifting attachment designed specifically for transporting wall panels within an industrial environment.
Understanding the Application
Unlike conventional pallet handling, wall panels cannot simply be lifted underneath using forklift forks. In this project, the customer required an attachment fitted with a 50 mm solid steel lifting rod that inserts into the designated opening of the wall panel.
Once engaged, the forklift can safely lift, transport, and accurately position the panel during installation or material handling.

Key Design Features
The attachment incorporates several engineering features to improve strength and reliability.
Heavy-Duty Fabricated Steel Frame
The frame is fabricated using structural steel sections with full welded construction to provide sufficient stiffness during lifting.
50 mm Solid Steel Lifting Rod
A solid steel rod transfers the lifting force directly from the forklift attachment into the wall panel.
Its diameter and support arrangement are selected to resist bending during lifting operations.

Reinforced Back Frame
Triangular stiffeners are incorporated behind the lifting frame to distribute loads into the main structure while reducing local stress concentrations.
Forklift Pocket Design
The attachment slides directly onto the forklift forks and is secured with locking pins, allowing quick installation without permanent modification to the forklift.
